Minority Numbers Rise in Nevada

Census figures show that Nevada's minority population is moving toward the halfway mark.

Seven years ago, 34 percent of the state's population was a minority. Now, it's 41 percent.

The Hispanic population grew by 7.3 percent -- to 610,000.

Immigration reform being considered by Congress could slow that
growth.

Keith Schwer is director for the Center for Business and Economic Research at UNLV. He says it's hard to say if Nevada's minority population ever will surpass the 50 percent mark.
