Washoe County Commissioners have approved a deal for the Biggest Little City, and now we will soon have our own Triple A Baseball Stadium.
Commissioners approved the plans yesterday during a preliminary agreement with an investment group, including Indiana Pacers co-owner Herb Simon.
Officials decided to extend a rental car surcharge to help finance the cost of the stadium, but gave the thumbs-down to a stadium agreement with Sierra Nevada Baseball.
County Plans include reviewing the design and cost estimates, and issuing revenue bonds to build the stadium.
Construction is set to begin in early 2008, and the stadium is expected to be ready for the 2009 Baseball Season.
The site of the facility, is not yet determined.
