Fire Destroys Home

A family is homeless this morning after their house burned down late Tuesday night. Firefighters received a call just before midnight and were dispated to a garage fire on Tesuque Road in South Reno. Fire officials say the fire quickly spread to the attic, and then to the rest of the home. The heat was so intense, it affected ammunition that was stored in the garage, and bullets exploded in all directions.

The family escaped without any injuries, however one of their dogs was killed in the fire. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons, after falling off a wall while trying to keep the fire from spreading to some nearby brush.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
