Ski resort owner Vail Resorts plans to operate the 420 million dollar condominium-hotel and convention center project under development within walking distance of its Heavenly mountain gondola at South Lake Tahoe.
Rock Resorts International, a luxury hotel company owned by Colorado-based Vail Resorts, will oversee development of two luxury condominium-hotels with 477 rooms, a 50-thousand square-foot
convention center, a spa, park and a collection of shops and restaurants.
The Chateau, as the project formally called Lake Tahoe's Phase III will be known, is in the center of the ski town on the California-Nevada line and within 50 yards of the Heavenly Village mall and the gondola leading to the slopes.
It will replace tourist T-shirt stores and gift shops.
