An elderly Reno man was critically injured Thursday when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing the street, police said.
George Carne, 87, was crossing South Arlington Street at Alley Oop Lane when he was hit by the vehicle shortly after 8 a.m., according to police.
Authorities said there is no crosswalk at the location just south of Plumb Lane. Police added that Alley Oop Lane is a private street and therefore not a legal intersection for pedestrian crossing.
Carne was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries, police said.
Investigators asked anyone with information about the accident to contact Reno police or Secret Witness.
