A man getting off work at a casino hot dog stand was killed early today when he picked a home-made bomb off the roof of his car at the Luxor parking lot.

Police say a woman who left the hotel-casino with the victim and was standing nearby and escaped injury when the device blew up just
after 4 am.

Federal authorities with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives say the bomb was a home-made explosive device. Police say it was designed to target a single person.

Authorities say the device produced a blast about the size of a stick of dynamite and scattered shrapnel that penetrated nearby vehicles.

The man was pronounced dead at University Medical Center in Las
Vegas.

Police are reviewing casino and parking lot security videotapes for clues.
