A speeding arrest made Thursday afternoon turned to be more than just a ‘lead foot’ situation.
A Nevada Highway Patrol Airplane spotted a car speeding down Interstate 80 near Boomtown. An officer on the ground stopped the vehicle, and he says the car and the driver, 36-year-old Jose Floria, reeked of marijuana.
The officer says he then discovered more than six pounds of pot inside the car, with a street value of almost $40,000. The officer also says, the man was smoking a marijuana cigarette…as he sped down the interstate.
Police say Floria was headed to Indiana with the pot. He is being held on $9,000 bail.
