We've already had a taste of the wildfire season that's to come during the summer months. And now local, state and federal agencies are gearing up for what's expected to be a busy season...given the drier-than-normal conditions in Nevada.
Tuesday night, Reno Firefighters began a month-long series of wildland training exercises. And the US Bureau of Land Management will hold a meeting on May 8th in Elko...in an effort to assess the fire risk in areas surrounding Elko County.
During the 2006 Wildfire Season, more than 1.4 Million acres of land, or nearly 2,200 square miles, burned throughout Nevada. Most of the damage happened from multiple fire throughout Elko County...prompting an emergency hunt of deer and antelope.
