Senate Majority Leader Bill Raggio announced Friday he will seek re-election to the Nevada Senate.

Raggio, R-Reno, made the announcement during a luncheon address at the state GOP convention, which runs through Saturday at the Peppermill Hotel Casino.

Raggio, 77, was first elected in 1973 and is the longest serving state senator in Nevada history, according to his biography on the Legislature's Web site.
