If you have an ice cream craving Wednesday evening, you might want to head down to Baskin-Robbins for 31 cent scoop night. You'll get a sweet treat while bringing awareness to a good cause.
All Baskin-Robbins in the Truckee meadows are participating and some of the stores might be taken over by local fire fighters!
Baskin-Robbins donated $100,000 to the National Fallen Firefighter Fund. As a thank you firefighters are expected to be scooping your favorite flavor. Each scoop is only 31 cents. The National Firefighters Foundation is really important to firefighters. In 1989 Reno Firefighter Michael Copple died in the line of duty. This foundation was created to help firefighters and their families in a time of need.
The foundation gives money to departments after a firefighter died in the line of duty. It's to help pay for grief counseling for family and co-workers. It will also provide scholarships for spouses and children. Plus it helps fund training workshops for departments to help prevent line of duty deaths.
