You might have noticed more police officers parked on the side of the road on Monday morning if your commute took you through Sparks on Pyramid or El Rancho.
It is part of a funded campaign that focuses on drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. An undercover police officer used the crosswalk and kept an eye on those cars that stopped for him and those that didn’t. Those who failed to yield got a ticket for $145 and four points on their license.
The pedestrian safety campaign will be out again on Wednesday during the late afternoon and evening commute. Officers will be out in full force looking for drivers who are not yielding to pedestrians.
