Four agencies teamed up to fight a stubborn fire in Loyolton Tuesday afternoon. The fuel piles at the Sierra Industries Co-generation plant caught fire around eleven this morning. Despite the gusting winds, Loyalton Fire Department and three nearby fire agencies have contained the fire after a nearby barn was destroyed.
A Loyalton Fire spokesperson said the fire is putting out a large smoke plume that's being pushed north by heavy winds. No injuries have been reported and there's no word yet on what caused the fire. Sierra Pacific's cogeneration plant creates electric power by burning wood waste.
