COLD SPRINGS, NV – An early morning standoff is over with one person behind bars and another in a hospital.
The situation started at 1am Tuesday at a home in Cold Springs near Nancy Gomes Elementary School. Washoe County Sheriff’s Deputies got a call that a person had been shot on the 17000 block of Fantail Street.
At 7am Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 18-year-old Travis Hartzie from the home. He is facing multiple charges including attempted murder. The victim of the shooting is also an 18-year-old. He was shot multiple times in the upper torso, but is said to be “in satisfactory conditdion.”
Although the shooting, arrest, and standoff happened near the school, there was no interruption to the school schedule. Traffic was simply diverted to the back of the school instead of the front.
