Casinos won't be built in the Spanish Springs area--at least temporarily.
The Sparks City Council voted 3-to-2 last night to impose a 10-month moritorium on unrestricted gaming licenses for establishments without hotels within the Sparks sphere of influence.
At least four developers and six license holders have expressed interest in building casinos in the Spanish Springs area.
Existing casinos are worried building new casinos outside the Downtown area would siphen their profits.
And many residents in Spanish Springs are also opposed to the so-called neighborhood casinos.
