RENO, NV - This past weekend Scott Demars was shot and killed by Reno Police after he allegedly robbed a store and aimed a gun at police.

Scott’s Mom, Susan Harrison, submitted the following statement to KOLO-TV in response to the shooting on behalf of the family

After loosing his college funding, having his social security check stolen, and food he got from the food bank stolen; Scott DeMars was very despondent. He could not pay rent or eat. Scott did mention to a family member he had a toy gun and perhaps he should use it to obtain some money, this last weekend only. He was warned not to do such a thing, it was illegal and dangerous. We thought he had heeded our advice until we saw the news over the weekend. Then on Sunday realized it was our Scott that had been riddled with bullets by the Reno Pd, while Scott had not yet lost grip of his plastic toy. To add insult to injury, after his death it was real easy for Reno to tack on other unrelated crimes to a boy who was not alive to defend himself against.
Since no one was hurt but Scott, perhaps he deserved a nice prison sentence, instead of a death sentence at age 23. We deeply mourn the loss of our child, brother, and friend.

Many people have lost family members and they've dealt with the trials and tribulations that are presented. I'm sorry for your loss but QUIT BLAMING THE POLICE FOR YOUR SONS ISSUES! They were not at fault. They were using self defense. You go ahead and look at as though your son only robbed a store with a fake gun but the police and the people he was robbing thought that gun was real. They stopped the threat they have families too would you have rather it been them that got shot and killed because they wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and been wrong? Seriously I know you've suffered a great loss but accept the fact that your son, brother, nephew, grandson is the one at fault NOT THE POLICE!

How many of you have cared for anyone with any mental disorder? It is a great burden on all involved. I can personally vow that all members did as much as they could do. It is difficult to help someone who doesn't believe they need help. He never believed he was ill. There is so much a family can do, especially during these hard economic times. He wasn't the only one hurting for money and or food. His family is struggling through the times too barely making ends meet. Don't place blame on his family; put it where it deserves OBAMA! Though it was a wrong choice on Scott's end how many times does everyone look back and say if only, so don't act like you are any better. The bible says even being angery is an act of murder. Don't judge til you pull the plank out of your own eyes. THANK YOU! GOD BLESS ALL YOU WHO POSTED AND MAY GOD HELP OBAMA!
