One person is dead and another is in the Renown ICU after an experimental aircraft crashed Sunday night in the Sierra near Round Lake.
Late Sunday the South Lake Tahoe Airport received a signal from the emergency locater transmitter on the aircraft. Search and rescue resumed early Monday morning. At 8am they found the wreckage on the side of a mountain at about 8,200 feet.
In the wreckage they found the body of a man, but also found footprints indicating their was a survivor. At noon, a crew in a Fallon Naval Air Station helicopter spotted a woman sitting on a rock near Round Lake.
The woman was careflighted to Renown Hospital, her condition is unkown at this time.
