Man Suspected of Raping Woman with Cerebral Palsy
A Reno man stands accused of raping a wheelchair bound woman and leaving her half naked on the ground.

RENO, NV - A Reno man stands accused of raping a wheelchair bound woman and leaving her half naked on the ground.
Police say the victim, who suffers from cerebral palsy, was shopping at the strip mall on McCarran and Mira Loma on October 30th when she was approached by 29-year-old Joel Ortega. Investigators say he took her behind one of the businesses, raped her, and ran away.
Later that night, officers responded to the apartment complex behind the shopping mall on a domestic disturbance call. The officers who arrested Ortega for domestic violence noticed similarities between him and the suspect in the rape.
Ortega is being held on $30,000 bail.
