An autopsy has determined that a man whose body was found in the Truckee River near the Virginia Street Bridge died of drowning.
Additional toxicology tests will determine whether any other factors may have been involved. His name is being withheld until relatives can be notified.
Reno police say the man was reported missing from Southern California a month ago and had recent contact with police in Reno and Northern California. He reportedly suffered from mental illness.
Police say the body was spotted by a Washoe County sheriff's deputy who reported it to a nearby Reno police parking enforcement unit.
