Some say the best way to overcome the current economy and lack of jobs is to start their own business. That's exactly what Dawn Perchetti did, and she's hoping her new business will prove recession proof.

"The way the economy is, people have to work more hours and they don't have a lot of time to spend with their dogs. So I do it for them," says Perchetti.

She's licensed. Bonded. Insured. And even first-aid trained and CPR certified. That's right, dogs need CPR too!

Dawn Perchetti has materialized her passion for dogs through her business "Adventure Pet."

Malaika Venegoni, a professional dog trainer for Dog Gone Amazing, says this is exactly the type of service busy dog owners need. "They're running and playing in creeks and going swimming and doing a lot of really veterinary-recommended, cardiovascular stuff."

Christy Cranmer is founder of Scrap Dogs Co, which has more than fourteen locations in the western region of the United States. She knows what it takes to make a successful business, even in hard times. And she says there's nothing like "Adventure Pet" in the Reno area.

"Dawn picks them up and then drops them off so that saves gas and saves a lot of time."

One of Dawn Perchetti's clients had an overweight pup, probably a result of the fact that his owner was extremely busy. After Dawn's services, the pup has significantly reduced its weight by keeping active and going on adventures in the local Sierra Nevadas.

Carrie Compton of Compton Photography has worked a lot with Perchetti. She says, "I've seen the results from some of her clients. A dog has lost ten percent of its body weight and it was a really overweight dog."

Typically, keeping a dog active and healthy will help keep that dog away from the vet, thereby ultimately saving its owner money.

And many of the dogs Perchetti deals with see a behavioral transformation as a result of their time with her.

"I've seen dogs evaluated one day that dog was scared, a little on edge. Within two weeks they come running and jumping...," says Cranmer.

Perchetti works will all breeds and sizes of dogs.
Adventures last at least two hours. At the end, she gives the dog a bath. She's tried to make the price recession-sensitive--she says it costs around the same price as putting your dog in the kennel, about twenty eight dollars.

What health checks do they do? How long do they have a new client wait after they have their dog vaccinated for Kennel cough? One or two days is not enough it must be 10 days. They are spreading the Kennel cough...
