RENO, Nev. (AP) - A new report says prostitution-related arrests have plunged around Reno.
A newspaper that examined the figures says prostitution-related arrests have declined to 89 so this year from 251 in 2004.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reported the figures as part of a series of stories published Sunday.
Police took credit for the decline, saying fewer prostitutes are working the streets as the result of heightened enforcement activities.
The newspaper says it counted 980 prostitution arrests in Washoe
County over the six years.
A small number of those arrests were for pandering, or enlisting others to work as prostitutes.
Women accounted for about 40 percent of the pandering arrests.
The paper says most prostitutes and pimps are in their 20s.
