A Washoe County woman who called in a false report Sunday afternoon claiming that her husband was holding a hostage and had barricaded himself in his home south of Reno could face criminal charges.
Deputies closed nearby streets (in the Arrow Creek area) and surrounded the house. The sheriff's office had been told the man was suicidal and a hostage negotiator asked the man to come out.
The man and his 16-year-old daughter answered the door without incident and said they had been watching TV.
About seven deputies spent about 90 minutes at the scene. The regional ``SWAT'' team also was en route but was called off. The estranged wife is being sought, and the sheriff's office is discussing possible charges against her with the district attorney's staff.
