Fire officials in Churchill County are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed the residential section of a substance abuse treatment center in Fallon last night and early this morning.
The wind-driven blaze broke out underneath the floor at the New
Frontier Treatment Center yesterday evening and spread throughout
Assistant Fallon-Churchill Fire Chief Kurt Henning says firefighters thought they had it contained after about four hours. But he says the building had been remodeled several times and once the flames got into the walls and attic there was nothing they could do.
The fire caused the evacuation of some nearby residences.
Henning says it was not under control until about four o'clock this morning.
Fallon Fire Marshal Mitch Young estimates the damage at more than one (M) Million-dollars. He says they are asking for investigative help from the state fire marshal.
