A Sparks teenager has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in her parked vehicle.
Police said the unidentified 16-year-old boy was being held in a juvenile detention center after his arrest Thursday.
The boy is accused of sexually assaulting the woman after she returned to her car March 28 from a Reno nightclub.
Police said the suspect entered her car the same time she did, then demanded money at gunpoint. The suspect is accused of sexually assaulting her before fleeing.
"We're a pretty safe community and the crime was very egregious," said police Sgt. Kim Bradshaw. "We just don't have this type of crime in Reno where someone hops in your car and does that.
"This is very surprising, especially when you throw in the fact the suspect is a juvenile," Bradshaw added.
The boy also is accused of entering the parked car of another woman Thursday in Reno. He fled after the woman screamed.
