Around 4 o'clock Friday morning Reno and Sparks fire crews were called out to a boys home at 7550 Pyramid Way.
Reno Fire Battlion Chief Rick Kajans says, 19 boys were evacuated from the Northern Nevada Teen Challenge home.
Firefighters found light smoke coming from the laundry room. Investigators are now trying to determine how the fire started.
The fire caused very minimal damage and the boys were allowed back inside the home.
The sprinkler system tripped by smoke is what alerted the boys to evacuate.

Ditto and kudo to Sean...ambient temperature will activate fire sprinkler(s), NOT smoke. Smoke affects smoke alarms. Both items, fire sprinklers and smoke alarms are a MUST in home for an 82% increased chance of survival (per NIST report).

Just a quick correction, smoke does not set off fire sprimklers, only heat does. Smoke sets off smoke detectors.
