An Elko Marine has been killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq, the defense department reported on Tuesday.
Lance Cpl. Raul Bravo Jr. was killed Saturday during combat operations in Al Anbar province. He is the 29th person with Nevada ties to die in Iraq, Afghanistan or Kuwait.
Bravo was a 2004 graduate of Elko High School and was on his second tour of duty.
According to his sister, Rachel, his company was patrolling in the city of Al Quaim when the military vehicle Bravo was driving was destroyed by the bomb.
He is survived by his father, Raul Bravo of Elko and his mother Joy Marisco and sisters Shakira, Rachel and Isabelle, all of Henderson.
The family said Bravo will be buried in the veteran's cemetery in Boulder City.
