Criminal charges could face the parents of a 10-year-old boy who was suspended from his elementary school after he brought a handgun and ammunition to class.
Other pupils at Jessie Beck Elementary told a teacher on Monday the fourth-grader had the unloaded gun and clip of bullets.
School police took the boy to juvenile hall, after which he was released to his parents.
Officials said the boy, who must undergo a psychological examination before he can return to classes, is the youngest student ever found with a gun in a Washoe County school.
District police plan to ask the district attorney's staff to consider criminal charges against the boy's parents for child endangerment. The district isn't releasing release the names of the parents.
