Three-Car Accident Claims Two Lives South of Reno

A three- car accident claimed the lives of two Reno teens Monday afternoon on U.S. 395 near the Mt. Rose Junction south of Reno, the Nevada Highway Patrol says.

The driver, Nicholas Parker, age 17 of Stead and passenger Jamie Fleischmann, 17 of Reno were killed in the accident.

The pair was traveling south on the highway in the area of Andrew Lane when their Dodge Stealth crossed over the centerline and ran into northbound traffic. There it hit the side of a four-door sedan, says Sgt. John Stewart.

The Dodge was then struck by a northbound Dodge pickup truck, Stewart says.

The driver of the pickup was injured in the accident and transported to St. Mary's Regional Medical Center for treatment. The occupant of the four-door sedan was not injured.

Whole the circumstance of the accident remain under investigation, Stewart says the victims were wearing seat belts.

The accident, which occurred about 4 p.m., tied up traffic for miles, with northbound traffic being routed from U.S. 395 to Rhodes Road.

Troopers are asking for anyone with information concerning the accident to contact the Nevada Highway Patrol at 688-2500.
