Man Pleads Not Guilty in Killing of Sparks Teen

A man accused of raping and killing a Sparks teenager has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors say they intend to seek the death penalty against 28-year-old Tamir Hamilton. Washoe District Judge Connie Steinheimer set a March 2008 trial date.

Hamilton is accused of assaulting and killing 16-year-old Holly Quick in her bedroom while her mother was in another room in September.

Hamilton was a friend and former roommate of Quick's older sister.

Hamilton is also charged with sexual assault and burglary in a separate case involving a 20-year-old University of Nevada, Reno student.

That crime occurred a few weeks before the Sparks killing.

Authorities say DNA evidence links Hamilton to both crimes.
