Hearing Delayed For Former Reno Councilwoman

A hearing to determine if former Reno councilwoman Sherrie Doyle violated her probation has been delayed until Friday.

State prosecutors had intended to ask a judge to revoke Doyle's probation for failing to pay restitution and perform community service obligations on her conviction of conspiracy to steal campaign funds.

Doyle pleaded guilty to the gross misdemeanor last year. Her three-year jail sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation.

Washoe District Judge James Hardesty ordered her to pay $2,500 restitution and perform 40 hours of community service. In court documents, her probation officer said she failed to do both.

A hearing scheduled for Wednesday was postponed after Doyle said her daughter was having her tonsils out that day.

In an affidavit filed with the court, Doyle asserted she has complied with the terms of her probation.

The hearing is now scheduled for Friday.
