Three people have been arrested in the death of a 35-year-old woman in Lander County, authorities said.
Barbara Mead, 40, of South Carolina and Grant Clemson, 29, of Chuckey, Tenn., were arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder
in the death of Cynthia Delgado, said Undersheriff Robert Quick. Mead's hometown could not be confirmed by authorities.
Charles Teno, 46, of Rock Hill, S.C., who reported her murder last week, was booked Monday on suspicion of being an accessory to
murder. Teno told investigators that Delgado was killed Feb. 10 in Battle Mountain.
Delgado's nude body was found Sunday about 14 miles north of
Battle Mountain after an eight-day search across a large swath of
high desert between the Elko and Winnemucca areas.
She was allegedly strangled, but an autopsy will be performed by the Washoe County Coroner's Office to confirm the cause of death, said Elko County Undersheriff Rocky Gonzalez.
A truck she was reportedly transported in was found abandoned in
Elko, about 70 miles east of Battle Mountain.
The motive was not immediately released, and the case is under investigation.
Delgado's body was found north of the TS Power Plant construction site, where Clemson worked for the main contractor, authorities said.
