Police said Gloria Mayfield, 53, of Marina, Calif., was walking along Moana Lane when she was struck by the SUV driven by Evelyn Allen, 42, of Sparks.
Mayfield was knocked to the pavement, driven over and dragged six feet. She died during surgery at Washoe Medical Center.
No citations have been issued while the accident remains under investigation.
Police said alcohol was not involved.
