Abducted Child Found; Reno-Area AMBER Alert Canceled

SUN VALLEY, Nevada (KOLOTV.com) -- Sunday, January 28, 2007:

An AMBER Alert for an abducted Reno-area child has been canceled.

An 8-month-old girl is safe this morning after she was kidnapped, prompting authorities to issue an amber alert.

The sheriff's office says the parents of 8-month-old Adriana Brooks abducted her from her grandmother's home around 5:20 last night.
That happened on east ninth street in Sun Valley.

We're told that the grandmother recently won custody of the child.

After a citizen, who recognized the car after hearing the amber alert called it in, police found the suspects in a trailer park in Panther Valley on Ranger Road. Panther drive was temporarily closed during the incident.

After about 30 minutes of negotiations, the suspects 33 year old Phillip Wayne Brooks and 29 year old Paula Brooks surrendered peacefully.

The baby is in good condition and has been returned to her grandmother.

The suspects have been booked in Washoe County Jailand are charged with 1st degree kidnapping, burglary and domestic battery.
