Reno School Locked Down Near Domestic Distubrance Arrest

Reno police have arrested a man in an alleged domestic dispute that forced a lock down at a nearby middle school this afternoon.

Police say 38-year-old Jason Merrell has been charged with domestic battery and assault with a deadly weapon.

Officers were dispatched to a residence in northwest Reno after a woman reported her boyfriend had held a gun to her head. She told
police he had access to rifles inside the home and had made threats
of suicide.

Police closed off neighboring streets and placed Billinghurst Middle School under a lock down as a precaution.

Merrell eventually surrendered peacefully. School officials say no children were ever in any danger.
