Traffic on U.S. 395 south of Reno was snarled for hours this morning following a five-vehicle accident blamed on icy roads.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says the accident happened when a Dodge Durango on Pleasant Valley Drive couldn't stop because of slick roads and skidded into traffic on U.S. 395.
The SUV was struck by a semi-truck. Both vehicles were then struck by other traffic.
In all, five vehicles were involved.
The patrol says one person was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Traffic was backed up for miles until the wreckage could be cleared around noon.
