Sierra Snowpack Continues to Build

The Sierra Nevada snowpack is off to a great start after another weekend storm dumped up to 11 inches of snow.

Monday's water content in the Lake Tahoe Basin snowpack measured 151 percent of average for the date.

The figure was even more impressive to the south in the Carson River watershed, where it measured 191 percent.

Storms have brought snow to the Sierra three straight weekends and allowed at least five Lake Tahoe ski resorts to open.

Soda Springs near Donner Summit west of Truckee, Calif., became the latest to open Sunday.

Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley USA also opened with limited operations over the weekend.
