Last weekend's Fiesta Bowl wasn't all about football.
Reno's McQueen High School band returned with a first-place win in its category at the Fiesta Bowl Parade in Phoenix.
The 130 member band also took third-place overall in the parade that included 21 other bands from across the nation.
About 40,000 people lined the parade route, and even more saw it on television, said McQueen band director Rick Moffit.
"They invited the very top high school bands from across the country," Moffit said. "To place first in our category in the parade and third overall, I am ecstatic. We just appreciate the opportunity to represent the city of Reno in front of a national audience."
Numerous events were held to help raise the $85,000 to send the band members to compete. The city of Reno donated $10,000.
