Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered in Lake Tahoe Thursday morning.
The South Lake Tahoe Police Department said a woman was found floating near the southeast shore. She did not have a shirt on. Police called the death "suspicious," and said foul-play or an accident have not been ruled out.
The cause of death is not immediately apparent, according to police. An autopsy is slated for Friday, an official said.
It is not known how long the woman was in the water.
The woman has not yet been identified. Police said she was in her 40s or 50s, Caucasian, weighed 160 to 170 lbs., and was 5'6" or 5'7". Anyone with information is asked to call South Lake Tahoe Police at (530) 542-6100.
