Father in 4th of July Stabbing Arrested

SPARKS, NV - Sparks police have arrested the man they think stabbed another man after the 4th of July fireworks celebration this year.

Witnesses told police Brando Flores had started a fight on 11th Street with a 13-year-old boy, whose father stepped in and stabbed Flores with Flores' own knife. But after the investigation, the father, Elmo Montoya, is the man in jail, charged with battery with a deadly weapon.

Police say Montoya stabbed Flores multiple times during a fight, then chased him when Flores tried to leave, and stabbed him again.

Montoya's son was also stabbed, police say accidentally, with only superficial wounds.

Flores is recovering from his wounds.
