LAKE TAHOE, CA - “It's been a year that I don't think anybody will forget,” says Rachael Woods of Alpine Meadows. The ski resort got more than 62 feet of snowfall this winter. Some of it is still sticking around. With a remaining base from 3 to 16 feet deep they’ll be open for business this 4th of July weekend. It’s the first time they’ve run the lifts in July since 1995.
In most places, the snow is wet and granular. But for diehard skiers, the conditions will be right early in the morning. Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley USA, Kirkwood, and Sugar Bowl will all fire up their lifts. Season pass holders will ride for free. Individual tickets range in price from $10.00 to $50.00.
