For about a year, Arnold has been in foster case at an 'undisclosed location.' The approximately 100-pound potbelly pig belongs to Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell.
Crowell said he had to give up his beloved pet when, during his mayoral bid, it came to light he was in violation of Carson City's animal ordinance.
Arnold has been Crowell's pet for 11 years. Arnold had been living in a heated and insulated house in Crowell's yard -- in the same neighborhood as the governor's mansion. Crowell said during that time, many people came by to visit Arnold -- and many have been concerned about his absence.
However, thanks to action by the Board of Supervisors, Arnold will soon be home again. Supervisors updated the animal ordinance to allow owners of lots less than an acre to own up to two potbelly pigs.
"I've had a lot of people come out and say: 'when is Arnold coming home?' 'Can we do anything to help?' It's been a great deal it's really been heart-warming pets take a particular place in our heart and Arnold really took a place in our heart here," Crowell said.
The mayor said he hopes to pick up Arnold from the undisclosed location next week.
