Sheriffs deputies are asking residents for help locating additional potential victims who had contact with a Reno city bus driver arrested in an investigation into child pornography.
Greg Gray Smith, a Citifare bus driver for about 11 years, was booked into the Washoe County Jail Tuesday on suspicion of statutory sexual seduction and 10 counts of child pornography.
Smith, 40, is accused of molesting a 15-year-old Reno boy he met on the bus, Washoe County Deputy District Attorney Jim Shewan said. He was being held Wednesday in lieu of $55,000 bail.
Sheriff's detectives said they arrested Smith after a tip from police in Redding, Calif., who continue to investigate a case involving retired Air Force Maj. Robert Haase.
Haase, 66, pleaded guilty to child pornography charges in Reno in December. Haase made two trips in 2001 with the 15-year-old boy to Redding, where he molested the boy and photographed him in various poses, prosecutors said.
The boy told investigators he also was molested by Smith, Shewan said.
A search of Smith's personal computer did not reveal any photographs of the boy, but other child pornography was found, he said.
Haase was sentenced in January to life in prison with the possibility of parole after he serves five years on a single count of producing child pornography.
He also was sentenced to a consecutive term of two to five years for statutory sexual seduction.
Shewan said other possible victims or anyone with information about the case should telephone him at 775-328-3200, or Washoe County Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Dave Nikoley at 775-328-3046.
