Residents living in an apartment building next to the Truckee River above a downtown Reno bar got an early morning scare after waking to the smell of smoke.
Reno firefighters confirmed the smoke and evacuated the entire building Thursday morning. After a quick search it was determined the smoke was not from a fire, but from grease on an elevator cable.
Fire crews deployed heavy duty fans to clear the air so residents could then return to their apartments.
