LAS VEGAS (AP) - Health authorities are reporting Clark County's first probable human case associated with West Nile virus of this year.

The Southern Nevada Health District said Wednesday a 61-year-old
woman contracted the mild form of the illness, West Nile fever
Because confirmation testing can take months to complete, the Clark
County case is considered probable.

The health district also has detected West Nile virus in a cluster of mosquitoes in a Las Vegas-area zip code.

West Nile virus is spread through the bite of infected mosquitoes. The illness is not spread from person to person.

Last year, there were 16 reported human cases of West Nile virus in Nevada.
