A Reno man was charged with murder in the Sept. 4 beating death of his former girlfriend.
Washoe County prosecutors on Friday amended a complaint against Marc Fraide after Karyn Miles died Sunday at a Reno hospital. He originally was charged with felony domestic abuse.
"We have charged him with murder with the use of a deadly weapon, that being the steel-toed boots he used to kick her and stomp on her head," said David Clifton, chief deputy district attorney.
Fraide, 29, is accused of beating Miles, 38, in front of a Lemmon Valley mini-market just north of Reno. Miles, the mother of three children, never regained consciousness.
Fraide remains in the county jail in lieu of $75,000 bail. He will not be granted bail if a judge finds evidence of premeditation, Clifton said.
