STATELINE, Nev. (AP) - Douglas County authorities are getting out the word about the alcohol ban at a Lake Tahoe beach on the Fourth of July.
An ordinance outlawing alcohol on that day was enacted several years ago to crack down on problems that come with public intoxication.
The sheriff's office says that any container that could be used to conceal alcohol will be subject to search inside Nevada Beach Park.
Violators could face a $1,000 fine.
The U.S. Forest Service also will be enforcing a no alcohol policy that day between 10 a.m. and midnight at the Zephyr Cove Resort Beach and Campground, though authorities say designated drinking zones will be set up at or near the resort.
Anyone possessing alcohol on federal lands outside designated areas could face a $5,000 fine.
