The family of Marine First Lieutenant Nathan Krissoff says the Reno man has been killed in action in Iraq. The family issued a statement Sunday, two days after he was killed in al-Anbar province.
Krissoff was a counterintelligence officer assigned to a reconnaissance battalion based in Okinawa, Japan.
The family says the lieutenant routinely took part in patrols throughout al-Anbar and often told them of the heroism among his Marines and was proud to be part of creating a more stable Iraq. He joined the Marines in June of 2004.
Nathan and his brother, Austin, were members of the US Junior
National Kayaking Team in 1999. Their father, William, had been a
competitive kayaker for 25 years and moved the family from Truckee
to Reno in 1991.
