A Reno man accused of beating his ex-girlfriend is facing additional charges after she died, authorities said.
Washoe County sheriff's deputies said Karyn Miles, 38, never regained consciousness after a Sept. 4 beating and died early Sunday morning at Washoe Medical Center.
Miles was found unconscious in Lemmon Valley north of Reno after she apparently had an argument with her former boyfriend, Marc Fraide, deputies said.
The woman was struck several times in the face and kicked in the head. She was taken to Washoe Med, where she was admitted to the intensive care unit.
Fraide, 29, later turned himself in to authorities and was booked on one count of domestic battery causing substantial bodily harm.
Investigators are trying to locate additional witnesses to the beating.
