The trial has been postponed for a woman who admitted smoking marijuana before she was involved in a fatal accident with a Reno motorcycle police officer.

Washoe District Judge Janet Berry on Friday set a new trial date of March 15 for Anna Jackson, 25. The trial had been set to start Nov. 12, but her new lawyer said he needed time to catch up before it starts.

Veteran officer Mike Scofield, 54, died within minutes of crashing into Jackson's vehicle after she pulled out of a business parking lot on Mill Street in September 2002.

Scofield had his emergency lights flashing and was responding to an injury accident.

A blood test later revealed that Jackson had 3 nanograms per milliliter of marijuana's active ingredient in her system. The legal limit is 2 nanograms per milliliter.
