A developer who wants to build nearly 600 homes in Reno’s Stead neighborhood got the okay to move forward with the Sky Vista project.
The Reno City Council approved a special-use permit during a Tuesday night meeting, but required the developer to take steps to mitigate traffic and school concerns.
Some Stead residents who oppose the project came to the meeting, telling council members of their numerous concerns, and asking them to stop the project. They object to the development's high-density housing, in the form of “duets”, which they say would bring added traffic & school overcrowding, while taking away their views.
A group of neighbors even presented a petition to the council, which included a few dozen signatures.
However, after hearing the residents’ concerns, the city council approved the special-use permit anyway.
