Heavy winds helped fuel a wildfire that came dangerously close to homes in Golden Valley this morning. The fire began around ten off Tamra drive.
Firefighters were concerned the flames might get into nearby homes. But fortunately, many of the homeowners had prepared by leaving defensible space around their houses, helping to slow down the fire.
About three acres were blackened. Firefighters believe arcing power lines started the fire. It was a similar cause to the fires that threatened Caughlin Ranch last week.
